The red sun peers through the wispy clouds
on the jagged surface of crashing waves
the cold wind whips the water
thrashing it against the shore
the sun reflects its glow off the water’s surface
it sinks below the horizon
giving way to calm darkness
as the clouds draw near
in a last farewell
